If it's hard and bony (although in a pup/young dog it may feel more squishy...like cartilage) and at the end of the sternum in the belly, then its probably just the xiphoid process. Humans have one too, although unless you're suffering from malnutrition, it's difficult to see, and can only feel if you push hard. (careful not to push hard when in this area...it can break off and puncture organs/lungs)
