I am so sorry for your loss. It is always hard to lose a pet but when they have been with you for 14 years it really makes the loss hard to bear. I think it is good to get another soon, not right away, but soon. You have a big hole in your heart and although Gertie will always be there, there is room to love another in honor of her.
I waited a short while after I lost my first yorkie. My husband actually wanted to get another almost right away, but I needed a little time to mourn. It is different for everyone. Just do it when you feel right.
You will always miss your little girl, but having another to love helps a little too. Best wishes in your quest, don't hurry. You will know when and which one is just right. |
