But if you remove Karlee from the home for a few days wouldn't that give you a clearer idea if it's her or not? Plus I'm wondering if this is happening to your son at school couldn't it be something else? I'm not that familiar with allergies. I have more of seasonal outdoor things and not animals. I don't know for sure but if you are away from what your allergic to, do you clear up?
I really hope you find out what the allergy is! |
Thank you I hope we can find out something this week too. Karlee is staying with family of ours this week until Wed. and my family is staying at one of my best friends houses she is like my sister. My husband is going to clean and wash everything each afternoon so I don't have to be around the house or my sons that way if my oldest son or I still have allergic reactions while we are away we will have some ideas if its something in our home or if its Karlee. Before we go home we are going to go pick Karlee up and be around her for a little while before we go back to our house if we start having any allergic reaction we'll know then that its something about Karlee that is causing it. Today my oldest son goes for his appointment with the allergy specialist I'm feeling relieved that the appoinment is today to talk to him about our concerns. We do know that my oldest sons allergy testing a few years ago showed he was allergic to dogs, cats, horses those were the 3 that came back showing he was positive to being allergic too. His allergies have really gotten better though and his asthma has almost cleared up. We did so much research for a very long time before we decided on getting a Yorkie we felt in the beginning that was our safest bet that a Yorkie would be good for our family due to they are'nt suppose to have dander and I've actually read where they are good for allergy sufferers. We just never dreamed any of us would have any issues with having a Yorkie. I have had hives for a long time but never had the throat swelling only 3 yrs ago when I had a c section and when I had my right kidney removed during those times I had a allergic reaction that caused my throat to swell together from medicine I'd been given that I was allergic too that we at the time did not know. My normal hives usually brings on a itchy feeling and if I scratch it welps up in that area but in the last month my throat has wanted to stay swollen, my neck, face, forehead and ears all get red, puffy and itchy. My son though just started to complain about hives right after we got Karlee at first it was just a little welping her and there but so far he has now had 3 reactions and his face wants to get a rash and his forehead swells especially around his eyebrows and his ears get puffy. Neither my son or I had had hives like this until August, we got Karlee July 30th...so that's where I'm getting the feeling it has to be something that started when we got Karlee. At that time the weather was dry and humid and our allergies normally don't react in that type of weather. Its just really confusing, I'm learning everyday new things about my allergies...I was never allergic to anything until I turned 24 so the last 7 years I've found out I am indeed allergic to things around me. My oldest son has always shown signs of having allergies since he was just a month old (we now know he is like me, at first neither me or my husband could understand why my son had such issues with allergies and asthma but before long we discovered my allergy issues) thankfully my youngest son shows no signs and have not had any issues with him. I am also thankful my oldest son has done a lot better with his asthma and allergies right now the only thing acting up for either him or me is hives. This is a real puzzle because used to as long as I took my allergy medicine I would not have any issues with my hives but now the medicine is like its not even working for me I've been on the same medicine for 7 years so that's another indicator something in our home or around us is causing this.
The day my son broke out in hives he had complained here at home of itching before he got on the bus for school, as soon as he got to school about 35-45 mins later I got a call, the teacher that got the students off the bus saw Blake and he complained to her about itching and took him straight to the school nurse where they treated him for hives so his allergic reaction stemed from home not from school. He has had 3 reactions enough to cause concern especially this past Saturday when his face broke out it was the worst reaction yet. One thing though since I've been here on YT I've had a lot of good suggestions and found out a lot of great info about hives that I never had heard or known about I really love YT you guys are great with the help and advice. I have a list of things today to speak with the allergy specialist about so hopefully I can find some sort of answers for our family.
Its been a rollercoaster of emotions lately and all of you here on YT have been very caring, kind and sweet to me and I can't tell you all enough how I appreciate it and how much you've all helped me! Thank you all! I know if it comes down to the fact that we have to rehome Karlee I have no doubt that she will be loved and taken care of that is a huge relief in knowing she will have a home where she will be loved like she is with us...its just if we do have to rehome her my family is going to really have some sad emotions of missing our baby girl. I talked to my husband last night and we both agreed that we are going to make a decision this week once we get back home and see how things are and today we will talk to the allergy specialist we know we can't keep going on wondering what to do and we know for our family and for Karlee it would be better if we have to rehome her to not keep putting it off I know Karlee is still young enough she could adjust it will be sad if it comes to that but I know right now we are doing everything to keep her and I feel relief in knowing that she will have a good home and family to be with if we can't keep our furbaby. I'm just so thankful I learned about YT before I got Karlee I'd be a mess in this situation so I know God worked it out for me to find this site to talk to all you wonderful YTers!
