My aunt & her husband recently visited their daughter(she's in her 30s) in CA to help her move. While her daughter was @work, they were doing things to help her out in the apt complex. While in the laundry room, a man asked if it was their daughter who had recently moved in & if she was married? My aunt answered and told him that she was not married.
Personally, I never would have. I'm like you in that it sometimes pays to be careful in certain instances.
