HOW DO I GET HIM TO USE THE GRASS MAT AND GET HIM TO REALIZE HE HAS TO GO AND GO FIND HIS MAT TO PEE OR POOP?

I have been thinking about getting the Backyard Buddy, or something similar, and have wondered how well the dogs do with them.
I think I would place it by the door that they are used to going out.
