Well, I kinda use it that room as my studio and storage. I have a daybed by the window that they are allowed on. It's low so they can get up and down it easily and they do use that alot.
I think you're right about the stairs though or closing that room off-which I really don't want to do as it brings in light in that corner of the house. I just didn't want them on that bed because the spread can snag very easily and it has since she's been climbing up it.
