Hi not sure if you/your friend is still looking but I live in southern maryland and there are two rescues that always have smaller dogs (yorkie/yorkie mixes/maltese, etc.) I just got my teapot yorkie there last saturday, Animal Relief Fund in Hollywood, MD and the other one is Doodle Dawgs and Fabulous Felines is the other rescue and they are in Waldorf, MD. Good luck and God Bless you for looking for a rescue-they need second chances, I love my baby!!!
