I trained Zeke to use a tap bell like in the video. You could always put a bandaid around the inside to soften the sound. I had Zeke ring it every time he goes out, or I would ring it for him and say ring the bell. It did not take him long to catch on at all. Of course, he rings it every time he want to go out whether he has to go potty or just wants to go out. Zeke is only 7 pounds, by the way.
