If they are not even one week old, I would be concerned. I had to make my girl go outside to potty the first two weeks. She would not leave those babies. You are talking in the first few days, mom is not staying with them? That does not seem right to me. Sure, she will gradually start leaving them for periods of time, but I do not think she should be at less than one week. Is she getting plenty of puppy food and calcium? Are you sure she is feeling okay? What sort of discharge are you seeing from her? Have you checked her gums and taken a temp? A sick momma dog will not stay with the pups as much.

Everything might be fine, but I would be careful and maybe talk with the vet over the phone. I am very cautious because of a recent tragedy with my own momma.
