Just to clearify
Growling is just dog talk. trun it off and a dog has not way to tell you that what you are doing is hurting, making him afraid or not ok by him.
Stopping the grr causes dogs to go to a bite as they have no other way to say no. A soft grr is not aggression at all it is a simple Please stop.
Saying no is an allowable behaviour in all types of living beings.
