My Yorkie needed nine extractions at age five and if it would have been let go, the chance of organ dysfunction (heart, liver, kidneys) from the bacteria would have been very high. In a healthy dog, anesthesia is safer than letting their teeth go. Yorkies are notorious for this. His teeth will need to be brushed at least 3-4 times a week. Did he lose all of his baby teeth? |
I agree and it could be a fistula if it is fang and you do not want to let that go and abscessed teeth are painful -- personally i would find a board certified dentist and take your dog in to have a good cleaning and some small dog owners clean teeth every 6 months and at least once a year as these little dogs have horrible teeth due to a small bone to tooth ratio and if the teeth get bad enough they can crack their jaw on a piece of kibble and that is very painful
