My concern is weather and my health. I got the dog because I am stuck here. He goes most of the time outside but right now he's going outside so many times my head is spinning[ and still making mistakes]. We bought puppy pads but haven't used them. Right now he can't even get down the two steps to the utility room if I were to put it there so it's kitchen or living room which I can see[ or bathroom which really doesn't have room for a pee pad and people LOL...

I told my hubby the only way a dog would help my anxiety [ since I have been sick] is if I nap in the afternoon[ sometimes after meds and NOT on purpose] if I didn't wake up to step in peep and poo.....

Help ....so many differing ideas....Once I use the pad in one spot if he can then make it down the steps to the utility room and move the pad will he use it there or will it be training all over again. I don't mind taking him out but I am no supposed to be alone outside for long[ my seizures give me no warning and if it's freezing I could lay in the snow for a long long time----need to train the dog to call 911]

see......right now not anxiety reliever[ and right now my one cat who is typically a loner thinks my yorkie is it's best friend and now he's barking like a nutso dog...better get him before he wakes up hubby who works thirds and sleeps during the day OOOPS
I don't really smell anything and I have two that pee on the pad several times throughout the day. I would think if you changed it often enough you shouldn't have a problem. And I've moved mine around in the house some and they always seem to find it if I show it to them over and over for the first few days. I would be careful expecting too much out of your new baby though. You WILL step in pee or poop at some point in time (probably several times). No biggie, just wash your foot off or take off your sock and go on about your business. He's just a baby. He doesn't realize you have medical issues and bought him in an effort to alleviate those. All he knows is he's a baby. He will pee in the floor, he will poop on the floor, he will bark, he will take forever finding his weewee spot outside when it's freezing cold, he will chew stuff, he will bite, he will eat bugs, he will stick his tongue up your nose, etc etc. Any dog in the world would. It's just all in how you choose to deal with it I think. Personally, instead of getting anxious or upset over it...I laugh at it. Those little quirks are what make them adorable. They are what melt your heart when you think about them during the day and wonder what they are doing.

I hope you are patient with your baby and know he doesn't realize he's expected to help your anxiety. I think if you have the right outlook about him he will do wonders to bring joy and peace into your life. Good luck!
