I'm sorry, but this is VERY bad advice.
You should NEVER allow a female and male to tie unsupervised! This is something any knowledgeable breeder is aware of and will tell you. I find it quite disturbing that this is even being suggested by another breeder when it could result in injury to both the male and female.
I think a good rule of thumb would be to not advise other on situations that you have stated you are having difficulty in handling yourself.
