We're back. I left by 9 am and the appointment was at 11:30 am . The trip was suppose to be around 1 hr and 45 min. Once I got off the Turnpike I got lost! After calling the hospital 3 times I found the Hospital and walked in at 11:26 am just in time.
We saw the surgeon who told me our options. Since he already had two Bile Acid tests and both were high ,he told me Cookie should have the surgery to look for a shunt. I asked about Ultrasounds and other tests that might find the shunt. He confirmed what two other vets told me. They are not great for finding shunts. If they dont find a shunt with an ultrasound it doesn't mean that he doesnt have a shunt and they would still do surgery to look for it and get a biopsy. Since he does not have the severe symptoms yet the vet told me his recovery should go well. The only sympton is looking tired and sleeping too much. He told me that dogs with liver problems do not have lots of energy and sleep a lot. So I scheduled his surgery ASAP . He goes in for surgery Tuesday morning at 9 am. Pray for us on Tuesday. My hubby is going to try and take us Tuesday morning. If he wakes up well he will be discharged on Wednesday or Thursday at the latest. Please Cookie in your prayers on Tuesday. I know I wont be able to sleep Tuesday night. I'm so used to him sleeping on my back or on my legs
