I am not a fan of dog parks. I feel sort of like your DH. I worry they are a place to pick up something nasty. Since there is no way to ensure everyone is keeping their dogs up to date on shots and free from disease, I just don't use them. But that is easy for me to say as I have 2 acres with a full acre fenced for them to have their own private dog park. If I lived in the city, I would probably still use them so my dogs could have the outdoor experience, but I would worry too.

Your little man might lose a little of the sniff and mark obsession after visiting a few times. But he will probably continue to use at least the beginning of each visit to remark over other dogs' scents before he settles into a play routine. That is just the way of it, more so with the boys.
