I asked the owner that question and he said the life expectancy is 8-12 yrs. I'm not sure if that's accurate or not. I haven't started to research the breed. I also wonder if they have any hip or knee problems because of those loooooong legs. I do know one thing, if they ever require surgery, the cost of anaesthetic alone is over $500!!! It costs him roughly $100 a month to feed him as well. So many things to think about before truly making a commitment to getting such a large dog. This Great Dane was rescued from craigslist for free!
