Stella was having separation anxiety issues after her spay (because I was with her for a full week afterwards) and the vet recommended we use a DAP collar. It worked great, and actually I think it conditioned her to be calm while we're gone because we don't have to use it anymore and she just naps when we're not here--no barking, scratching, crying. I would try that before something more obtrusive if the barking is truly a problem.
Makes me wish I had a necklace I could put on to calm me down when I was stressed...if only it were that easy!
