i agree as periodontal disease runs in this breed - use gauze wrapped around finger or get the chlorhexedine wipes from drsfosterandsmith.com as chlorhexedine kills bacteria in the mouth. The problems all lie below the gum line and no way to get below gum line unless dog is under anesthesia or you risk your dog getting worse if they do not do it properly and the teeth need to be polished as well and xrays need to be done as absessed teeth are below the gum line and many times can only be seen on xrays
