he does not need a blood panel but a skin culture to be sent to lab and for them to determine what antibiotic will kill this staph infection. We go to a dermatologist as dd has horrible allergies and exactly what you describe is what she has red pimples with crusties on top of it and it is very common in allergy dogs to get staph as when they itch they open up skin and let bacteria get in and thus staph. Best to wash your dog weekly to keep the bacteria down and the allergents off the skin from the air
