He wasn't the least bit concerned and said that it wasn't mange. A week later we had to take her back to the vets because she was scratching it and it was becoming inflamed. He said that it was just a hot spot and put her on Bioclav 62.5 tablets plus Topagen Spray for the itch. He also did a blood test and said that her blood was just fine and that she had system of a much younger dog. The spot has cleared up but her hair on whole left side is very thin and her right side is now thinning too. Her head, chest and sides/under belly are fine. Other than the 3 days at the kennels we haven't changed anything in her enviroment. She still goes everyday for her long walks and doesn't seem to be ill. Please help!!!
did they do a 6 panel thyroid test through michigan state or jean dodds because hypothyroid runs in this breed and usually in older dogs so i would have thyroid check due to age. It has to be the full panel not just t4 as t4free is most accurate but you have to see the whole panel. Also did they do scraping for scabies as demodex is in puppies but scabies can be from a kennel as it is contagious so if not thyroid you may want to do a round of revolution for one month as that kills mites as mites are hard to detect and sometimes takes a few scrapings to detect. If a hot spot raw coconut oil heals up my girls hot spots fast
