AKC Yorkie Pups
5 wks., ready 9/25. Parents on site, 1st shots and wormed. "1" male and "1" female. $500 each. Call 704-xxx-xxxx...

This means that they will only 7 weeks old when they go to their new homes. Do breeders not care anymore?

I just don't understand.
You have to understand that there is a real world out there beyond YT and not everyone knows the best age to sell a yorkie. For years I sold my pups at 6 to 7 weeks and never had a problem. I feel bad now that I did it for so many years but I was just doing what everyone else did at the time. The last few years I have been keeping pups until they are about 12 weeks old and I truly believe it is much easier on the pups and I really enjoy watching them grow up.

I am sure these breeders do care but they are just uneducated, like I was, as to what is the best age to sell pups. I think YT has been a valuable learning tool for many of us. All we can do it continue to educate people and if you come across someone selling young pups then mention to them the importance of keeping the puppies until they are older. We can't change the world overnight but we can try little by little.

One of the problems out there is the puppy buyers. Many puppy buyers want a 7 or 8 week old pup so they can raise it their self. They don't understand that it is better to buy a older pup that is already weaned and socialized. They act like a 12 week old pup is a grown dog.
