Default Advice----ONE or TWO?

I need sincere no nonsense advice for me and Mr. Darcy. He and I have been alone together since January 2009 when McKennitt died. I've had Mr. Darcy since October 2008. He just turned one, is neutered, pad (inside potty) trained and a sweet companion.
I contemplate getting a second Yorkie for several reasons. Dogs are pack animals and desire dog companionship. I'm home as a semi retired writer so time and training isn't an issue. The extra expense, care and effort is not a problem.
My concern is that Mr. Darcy will feel upstaged. Is this often the case?
I suppose a younger pup is the smart way to go. (?) Is another male OK?
I've read letters from those of you saying one dog is just fine. I've read letters saying......the more the merrier......which for us would only be one more.
I'd likely depend upon those dedicated to Y.T. to find a pup, and/or connect with Yorkie Passion north of us in Portland Oregon.
I seriously contemplate such decisions, as welcoming another living creature into our lives is a very important choice.
I'd appreciate feedback from parents of one and from those who decided that another Yorkie made sense in their lives.
Thanks so much from Mr. Darcy and mum or
