I'm sorry to hear about that.
My step-dad is allergic highly to dogs and is terrible when visiting over at my grandma's with her Lab. He actually DOES have small reactions to Jackson, my yorkie, but after a few days of being around him, he must become immune or get used to it. But if he pets Jackson too much or if he rubs up against him, he gets red bumps all over his arm.
