I agree - if you want her in bed with you, then she needs to learn the rules.
When Bailey was a puppy - I also, refused to put Bailey in a crate at night because she was in an expen all day. So, for Bailey's first year, I put her bed (a converted ottoman surrounded by small throw pillows) and placed it near my bed. Baileys bed - along with some additional square footage- was baby gated off from the rest of the room - it was Bailey's room! Complete with a small fabric-covered step stool and yorkie-sized pictures hanging on the wall. Its soooo cute!
When Bailey was 12-16 mos old - she started sleeping with us. We had to teach her some bed manners - such as wait for the alarm before smothering us with morning kisses, etc. All is well now!!!
