We go on frequent RV trips with our Yorkie (who is now 15 years young!) and she came down with a case of diarrhea (which happens on almost every RV trip we take with her.)
She resumed normal bowel movements 3 days after we started treating her symptoms. Took her to a vet and he prescribed lomotil (which is used on humans) to stop the diarrhea, and metrondazole (an antibiotic) to deal with possible blood in her stomach... (her diarrhea was almost black in color.) She's doing fine now,... but she is 15 and she has lost most of her eyesight. One thing we noticed as her eyes got worse,... she frequently looks at our reflections in mirrors rather than looking at us directly. That's been going on for about three months now. We think it may have something to do with putting more light into her pupils??? She is almost blind. Anybody else have a similar experience with mirrors and their Yorkies?
We know her time with us is drawing to an end and we will miss her very much. But, we will be left with wonderful memories of the happiness she has given us in exchange for the best life we could offer to her year after year.
