I know how devasted you must have been and I am so thankful that you found your sweet baby. I had a scare about 6 months ago. We live on 5+ acres and I took 3 of my yorkies out at 1 am. My 17 year old Heidi was sleeping. I left the front door cracked while I was outside and then came back in and was watching tv. I didn't even notice my Heidi wasn't under the coffee table. When I got ready for bed at 3 am I went to get everybody and Heidi was no where to be found. My heart just sank. My husband heard my frantic calls and got up. We looked all over the yard, me just a bawling, but couldn't find her. We have 2 small ponds out front and I was so afraid she had fallen in as she is almost totally blind but she was not there. It was so dark and we were trying to get around with flashlights. My husband went one way and me the other frantically calling her. Just as I was headed back to the house my husband called out "I've found her". My sweet little girl that can't see or hear and can't even walk very good anymore got out the front door and down 5 porch steps without me seeing her when I was out with the other dogs. She made her way down to our barn and crossed over to the neighbors back yard and fell in a 2 ft hole they had dug. If it had not been for her barking and the fact she fell in a hole we would never have found her. Unless it's happened to you it's hard to imagine the feelings you have. It was an accident that should have never happened but I just never thought that she could have managed something like that. My sweet little Heidi is still with me and I watch almost every move she makes.
