No. It's most common in larger breed dogs ; Shephard , Retrievers, Rots. Usually occuring in the 6-18 month range and most predominantly affecting males; it is not life threatening. Many researchers, at this point, have come to various theories as to its exact etiology. Nutition, Genetics, and Viral altercations due to the changing from dead, to live viral cells in the Distemper vacccine are all being looked into. Have always had yorkies, so my exposure to this is limited to research and clinical application. Hope this helps. |
