We have a total of four yorkies. Two are "rehomes" but we say we rescued them. Our girl is 8 years old. We have had her for four years. She was under four pound when we got her and you could feel all of her ribs and all of her spine. She would submissive wet across the room. She was kept in a room with her mom and grandmom with one bowl of water and one bowl of food. The previous owner sprayed the grass with pesticides so strong, it would burn their paws. She is now a healthy, sassy 9 pound yorkie. However, she has baggage. She cannot be without water. She panics. We have had almost all of the tests we could to see if there is something wrong, but fortunately all tests came back negative. Our youngest yorkie is a little over a year. We were able to get him last October. The previous owner had a history of buying dogs and getting rid of them. He was boarded frequently and not socialized. He weighed a little over 2 pounds at 9 months and always had the shakes. He was so thin, you could feel his microchip. Almost a year later, he is almost 5 pounds. He is steadily gaining the yorkie confidence he should have. |
