Oh, you are SO right. I learned a horrible, yet valuable lesson.
I am very, very lucky indeed.

He never was gone in the first place. He went back in when my son did. I never checked before I went in search, because I was so frightened, the thought didn't occur to me.

You know, I have actually told myself that I should always keep them on a leash, because we have hawks and owls. If one scooped up a dog, I could just pull it from the bird's grasp. But I was careless, and am thankful I didn't lose a dog because of it.
