We have 2 sets of stairs...one for the bed, and one for the bedroom window. The one for the bed has only three steps and is covered with faux fur. (Prince uses that to go from the floor, to a trunk that has a faux sheepskin pad on it (one of his beds) to our bed.
The one for the window has 4 steps. That one is plastic and has no-slip pads on each step.
I have nevr used a ramp for him, but the stairs are great. It took less than 30 minutes to teach him how to use them. He never jumps off of the bed. He ALWAYS uses the stairs.
