Most on here believe that as long as your vet has lots of experience with small dogs that you should have your furbaby spayed b4 first heat cycle. I waited till my Toots was older she weighs 4 pds 5 ozs she was 15 months old. However do not wait you only put them at risk for mamary tumors or they can die from pyametrea (infection of uterus) My (Tedi 9 years old ) had this when I had her spayed, I did not know it vet said she would have died in a couple days if I had not gotten her in for spay. :-( If I had to do again would have spayed both earlier!!!!
