I was a nail clipping chicken too (ok, and I still am!) and I had high hopes for the Quick Finder, but still haven't ponied up the money for one. What I usually do is... wet the paws so you can see the nails easily among all that fur. Have someone else hold the dog. Then take tiny snips off the end of the nails. This gets you and the dog used to it. Eventually you can work your way up to snipping off a little more. Yorkie nails are hard because they're black, so give yourself a break. I had the experience of trimming cat nails for about 10 years before I got 2 Yorkies and I was still terrified. Also keep steptic powder on hand just in case. Mentally that just in case factor helps a ton. if you cut too close, you have the powder on hand, and life goes on. I am able to trim my dogs' nails now without anyone's help. But yes, I still get nervous. And of course, a treat is in order when it's all over!
