Yes, many vets do still give the DHPP every year in spite of the fact that the AVMA and AAHA have changed the recommendation to every three years.

Rabies should not really be lumped into that discussion as it varies from state to state. Rabies is governed by state law. DHPP is not!


California requires rabies at four months, then every three years after that.

Since the rabies vaccine can cause a serious reaction, it should never be given along with the other shots. Wait a couple of weeks in between to be safe.
