We got Jada first and she is spayed. We were like you and wanted to get her a playmate and we decided on a male (bogie) and he is neutered. They get along great. They love each other and it is so cute to watch them play together. We are so glad we made the choice to get him. You might try if you have relatives and friends with dogs to let your baby play with them to see how she interacts with each gender before you decide.
