Unfortunately, that's what will happen a lot of times, but especially between two unspayed females (I kind of remember you stating Suzi was not spayed before, I think).
Dogs are so weird -- they always want what the other dog has, even if they have the same exact thing. Jackson is the same way. I take him over to my dad's house with two other dogs and we give all three of them the same bone(s)... two of them are ALWAYS staring at the other dog wanting THAT particular bone. There have been a few fights over there, mainly by the female Lily (Jackson and the other dog are males.) If Jackson even gets 2 feet away from Lily, she will attack him. So, there's definitely been a few brawls over there. Lily (like Suzi) also lived as an only dog for the first year of her life so I think that's part of it too. She never had to share before. I've that learned that female dogs are called bitches for a reason! LOL. My mom's female dog who passed was the same way with her bones.
Basically, I think with two dogs it's bound to happen. I think it's going to happen more with two females just in my experience. But I would recommend getting them both spayed asap because that will probably (not a guarantee) help with aggression. |
