Where I am from you would typically drop the girl off yes....but this male (who is vet recomended) does perform better outside of his home and if the female is in her own home she is less stressed.
I have not come across the idea of having two people involved in the actual breeding time. That is news to me. I am aware that holding her and keeping them calm (especialy during a tie) is the best way.
Right now I am leaning towards her being a day or two away from accepting him though he is showing all signs that she is ready. In my research I am aware that she should "soften" which will allow him proper access. Again, I am new so what exactly it should feel like is new to me. This is a learning process. |
Like I said before it is the stud's owner to conduct the breeding, if nothing else they should be at your house when you breed her. That is part of the fee you are paying them for.
If you want a safe breeding it is best to have two people involved in the breeding, especially since you are inexperienced.
I have my own studs, and have been doing this for awhile, but to ensure that a safe breeding takes place, both my husband and I are involved. He assists the male and I hold the girl.
