I have 3 male dogs in the house and the only times I have tried to insert females into the mix (not only with these dogs, but others) the dynamic just gets mixed up. Dogs who were totally laid back get all "macho" and what not, even if they are all fixed. The girls invaribly go all "alpha" and beat up the boys (I can not tell you how many times I have seen this, both with my rescue work and with pets I had), I have rarely seen the case where it didn't cause some friction.

I want a girl so bad it hurts (another baby to love, but also a girl to dress up and put pretty girly bows in!!!) but my partner and I have tried females and it just gets all tense in the house.

So, for now, I am stuck on boys.

It usually works out easiest.
Sounds true in my experiences with dogs!

I have a male currently and my next dog will be a male.
