I would ask your vet for a prescription cough suppressant and see how that helps. Hopefully, it'll help the cough, but also help her sleep. KC can take a while to develop - so I'm not reallly that surprised that she didn't have it when you went to see her. Also, she could have caught from another dog at the breeder's house. Also, the fact that you said she was "sniffling" is kinda odd...so that makes me think she was already getting sick then.
Do you board your dogs or take them to the groomer...is that why you get the KC vaccine? If not, you don't even need to get it.
