I'm glad to hear Bijou is home with you. Something that might work well for you when you are home with her is a yorkie sling - it is a velcro-type wrap that goes around their body with opening for the legs and then there is a shoulder carrying strap. This will allow her some freedom from being in the crate, but not endanger her legs at all.
