I can totally relate to both sides of your dilema. I HATE leaving my girls, but thankfully, my daughter can stay here with them and I know they are fine with her. I still miss them, still worry about them, I call home to check on them and can't wait to get back. I don't think of my girls as "dogs" - in fact it is rare you will even hear me use that term when talking about them!!!! They are definitely my babies.
You do need to take some time for yourself though. It sounds like this will be an awesome time for you and your friends. Since you have your sons to rely on and your know your baby will be in good hands, I would suck it up and go. You will miss your baby, you will still worry and you will look forward to coming back home ~ but go anyway!!!!!!!!!
