staph is inevitable when a dog is itching alot as it is a bacteria infection from rubbing face on carpet and itching then bacteria sets in. I am still not convinced it is not demodex as mites are very hard to detect so if it does not go away have them keep doing the scrapes. What meds did they give? Are the inside of his ears red and inflamed as that is a sign of ear infection not just scratching back of ears.
