Goldcoast YTC was amazing, they were the ones to help me find my breeder and my baby Zoe! I too tried finding someone in my area (though NW Florida is a bit tougher than other parts of Florida, I'd imagine, to find locals). I tried the YTCA and emailed everyone (basically) in the state! I only heard from 3 or 4, a few we no longer breed, a few rude responses, and not a single 'yes we have puppies'. Almost by accident my Mom found the YTC and they were amazing! Through emails they recommended several breeders, though only one had puppies when I'd wanted one. Even after we got Zoe a few of the breeders my Mom had contacted through Goldcoast YTC had asked about Zoe and were so happy for me! I can't say how amazing of a resource they were to me!
