I don't believe Lyme's disease is found in FL, but I do know that humans can get it from just a bite from the deer tick. It does not have to live on you for a period of time. I lived in NJ for years and hated those things. They are tiny and very hard to see and you can be bitten without even knowing it! I would think it is the same for dogs.

Speak with your vet about Advantix...it covers fleas, ticks and mosquitoes. I really do not know much about it. I have not had a tick problem here in TX.
