My husband purchased a Yorkie from a breeder about 2 weeks ago. He was born June 22, and we named him Derby.
When people stop us on the street to say hi to our puppy we get two responses.
1. Yorkie parents (without their yorkie on hand) often know he is a Yorkie
2. A lot of people tend to say he "doesn't look like a real Yorkie"
The first picture I am showing is when he first came to our house.
The second is when we gave him his first haircut and trimmed all his hair (off)

We love him all the same regardless. He had his first vet visit today (well, through us not the breeder) and she had nothing but good things to say. She mentioned his -ears- should perk up by 6 months of age, or they may just perk and flop at the very top. She told us that they are not cropped and that could be the difference, but then I see baby Yorkies on this site and they have perky ears? We don't care either way, but it seems to be the one trait that people distinguish a "real" Yorkie.
