As pet owners become more and more educated and involved and interested in their pets' health care, vets should respect that and, like the article said, view the relationship as "collaborative and consultative". Great Post!

I recently switched vets b/c I did not feel she wanted to take the time to hear or research my questions or concens. She always seemed to be in a hurry to get in and out. Our new vet is GREAT! He spent about 30 minutes with us our first visit and explained EVERYTHING I asked or questioned about. It gets better, I went back and suggested a med. Ladymom told me about. He admitted he had no experience with it b/c it is so new. However, called a specialist at the vet school, as well as researched it on a research database. He was more than happy to order it for me from the pharmacy.
Soooo, I am glad I questioned the med he had prescribed and found something new. I am even more glad that he was so helpful and receptive to suggestions.
