When I was maybe in first grade, my dad would bring me to the library every week. One day the librarian showed me a book she thought I might like to take out. It was very well worn and rather yucky. I told her my mother didn't like to have me bring home dirty books. I couldn't figure out why the librarian and my father thought that was so funny.
