I have looked and there are no official rules about when and how to decide what colors to put in the boxes. Since all puppies are black and gold, that would be the only choice if we were just supposed to put what they were at birth. That is how I marked my first ones and realized that probably was not right. Now I realize that even at an early age, you can usually part the hair and look at the roots themselves and the skin color as well. Then you can know whether the hair will turn blue. If you see a hint of silvery blue at the roots, then you know your baby will turn. In your case, yours already has turned -- so the blue is no question. The only undecided part is whether yours will wind up being more tan or more gold. That is a subjective call at this point, and it could wind up staying a mixture. Just pick one.
Thanks, FlDebra. The gold/tan is what has me confused. I wasn't sure which was which...I guess I have a lot to learn about these little guys. Since he was black/tan as a puppy and has lighten up in both colors, I figured he was blue/gold now. I guess I will wait a while longer. Thanks again to all who replied.
