Pain meds should almost always be given after a spay.
Some vets don't so, "They feel pain and take it easy."
Others say that giving pain meds reduces inflammation and a dog who isn't in pain heals faster. I would go with the second. In fact, I strongly disagree with doing major abdominal surgery on an animal and expecting them to get through the pain. No way, no how.
Tylenol and motrin should never ever be given. They can cause organ damage. Aspirin is more acceptable, but the vet should be willing to give you something specially formulated for dogs.
If she is being too active, she will need to be held or crated...
