Default Diva has eclampsia. New pictures included of babies.

This past week has been crazy.

To begin with, I spent the week dealing with my grouchy 13 year old as she recovered from having her tonsils out. NOt a good week for me or her, needless to say.

Then Thursday night, my 16 year old son came down with a stomach virus. Diva was being a little clingy but nothing unusual for her, or at least I thought it wasn't.

We went to bed around 10:30 that night. At midnight, my 13 year old got up to go the bathroom and found Diva laying on the floor panting and stiff legged. She ran and woke me up and as soon as I saw her, I knew it was eclampsia. We called our vet to meet us, grabbed her and flew to the vets office. He immediately started IV calcium and fluids and within 10 minutes she was wagging her tail and acting like nothing had happened.

He recommended upping her calcuim supplements and gradual weaning of the puppies to avoid mastitis. I went home and slept on the couch with her. I cannot tell you how terrifying that episode was.

So now, I am allowing Diva to nurse very little and am supplementing with bottles. Which by the way is a nightmare. Those little 2 week old babies fight like pitbulls to avoid that bottle. They want their momma!! LOL

Anyway Diva wears her onsie and can still care for her babies, but I plan to be totally on the bottle with them by Wednesday. Her milk production is much less now. We are still fighting with her to get her to eat dog food. She refuses to eat anything that I don't cook for her.

Here are some pictures of my little spoiled babies.
