Default Please help with your honest thoughts...

This may be a tad lengthy but I would truly like input from others. So...there was a "discussion" this afternoon among my family and I which became quite heated. I had posed an opinion on something that I had read on my sisters Facebook page regarding scholarships. So, my question is this: Do you think it is right or wrong for society in general to reward our children (with monetary gifts, etc.) for "doing the right thing" ? By this I mean, if a kid volunteers to give blood, help the poor, assist in an accident or disaster, should that same kid use that toward "community service" to earn scholarship money?
My thought is no! I want my kids to "do the right thing", to help others because it's the right thing to do, not to expect rewards or accolades. What do you think?
